12/21/2009Despite a gallant effort by the Eagles , Monroe proved to be the better offensive team on this Sunday night ; scoring four goals in the final period to down the varsity 8-4 in the first meeting of Section 9 rivals.
The Eagles did not go down without a fight. Trailing from the early going, Jay Healey(2), Josh Koerner, Richard Hudzik all scored goals to help bring the Eagles back from a 4-1 deficit.
But to no avail.
Missed opportunities, a goal called back , overall poor defensive play , helped fuel a Monroe team which took full advantage and pull away for the victory.
Senior Dillon Dolansky once again showed his determination and grit with a another fine effort.
With the toughest part of the schedule ahead of them, the young Eagles will have to team together as they struggle for another State Regional berth.
