With all of the swing players minding the fort for their teammates away on a school trip, the Eagles suffered two losses over the weekend at the Clarkstown Tournament; 8-2 vs. Clarkstown North and 6-3 vs. Clarkstown South. Despite the losses, the truncated varsity battled back after a rough start vs.North and nearly stole a victory against South in the final.

With the score tied 2-2 vs South, Danny Kelly scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to put the Eagles up 3-2 with four minutes left in the third period in the consolation game. But what has plagued the Eagles all season, two silly penalties, proved to be their downfall and deflated what could have been a well-earned and surprising victory.

Swing players Andrew Keating, Chuck Gabriel, Dillon Dolansky, Andrew Musco, Jason Healey and Danny Kelly all played well and gave their best effort under some tough circumstances.

The Burke varsity will now head into the final portion of the season with league games Thursday against O’Neill and Saturday against Newburgh.

Notes: Congratulations to Chris Reinfried for being selected by the coach to the All- Tournament Team.---Clarkstown North defeated Monroe 4-2 in the finals.
