The Eagle varsity responded to their first big match-up of the season with undefeated Monroe by playing to a 3-3 tie.

The overtime game featured some fine goal-tending by junior Mike Beck supported by a hard working cast of team members.

Eagle goal scorers Declan Ludington, Alex Pizzano and Greg Brushett staked Burke to 3-2 lead, but the Knights struck with a goal at 6.52 of the third period to even the contest; sending the game into a wild, evenly played, five minute overtime.

The defense, led by Greg Brushett, Billy Menkens, Ross Flood, Tommy Mahoney and Danny Kelly continually thwarted the efforts of the speedy Knight forwards who pressed the action.

Captain Ben Falkowski played his best game of the season; logging major ice time on regular shifts, penalty kills,and power plays.

Although the Burke boys did not get the win, the deadlock against the #1 Div 2 team in the state represented their best effort of the season.
